Retro-all-orange sun beds and umbrellas mixed with a great location and fantastic cuisine and cocktails. What else do you need for a perfect beach day?

  • Full info

Known for incredible location, cuisine and cocktails, Bagni d’Arienzo Beach Club Bar & Restaurant is also easy to spot (and easy to remember) thanks to the retro-all-orange sun beds and umbrellas. However, to spot them you have to get pretty close, as it is beautifully nestled between the cliffs on the beach of Arienzo in Positano.

The easy way to get to the beach club is by the shuttle boat available from the main pier in Positano, from 10.00am until 1.00pm, and from 3.45 pm until late afternoon. It takes about 10 minutes and is free if you have made reservations (which you should). Another, more adventurous option, is to walk the about 300 stairs down to the beach.

Apart from orange sun beds, Bagni d’Arienzo Beach Club also offers a spectacular setting with fantastic views of the ocean, Li Galli Island, Positano houses and the surrondings. In the restaurant you can enjoy the tastes of Positano and Amalfi Coast, ranging from delicious pasta to fresh seafood.

A tip is to make reservations for both sun beds and lunch before you visit Bagni d’Arienzo. Expect around €25 for two sun beds with an umbrella, well worth it for a full day at this lovely beach-spot.

Quirky, classic and casual beach club and restaurant, located on Laurito Beach. Not the most stylish place around, but with great homestyle Neapolitanian food, lots of charm and fantastic surroundings, it is still a highly popular place.

  • Full info

Beautifully set on Laurito Beach (next to Treville Beach Club, Da Adolfo itself might not look the most stylish place around. But the shack-like building and complementing sun loungers come with a large pinch of chaotic charm, casual vibes and history. Founded already back in 1966 by Adolfo "Pinkerton" Bella, it has been a highly popular spot ever sense.

With a fantastic waterfront setting, Da Adolfo is a great spot for a full day by the beach, or just a fantastic lunch. The food served is homestyle Neapolitan, ranging from fresh grilled fish to mussel soup and lots of pastas. Enjoyed best with a one or two glasses of local wine.

A bit quirky and fun option among the Amalfi Coast beach clubs, worth a visit for the great food, casual atmosphere and beautiful location. Reservations are recommended, part because it is a popular spot, and part beacuse the reservation includes free boat shuttle from the pier i Positano. The boat starts leaving from Positano at 10am and returns from 4pm. Note that reservations can only be made by phone.

To use the sun loungers in front of Da Adolfo there is an extra fee, and you should be in good time to even get one.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

May to September

The Amalfi Coast is a beautiful coast line in south Italy, located in the Salerno province. With dramatic hills of small villages leading down to the Mediterranean and out to the island Capri, it is truly a feast for the eyes, and it is since 1997 listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Unsurprisingly (given location), the climate is Mediterranean, with warm and sunny summers and mild winters.

Thanks to the location where the mountain meets the sea, many of the Amalfi beaches are set as 'hidden gems' between the cliff sides. Often the beaches and beach clubs are easiest to access by boat. Mixing up luxurious hotels, fancy restaurants with beautiful views and picturesque villages, the Amalfi Coats is a popular destination, both among jetsetters and families.
